forShadows

forShadows, a site specific installation by Jackie Hayes, will be open at Midtown Global Market February 20-March 21, 2009.  This is a project that explores the life and work experiences of those who work in the Market, a location of cross-cultural exchange.  The artist will occupy a corner of the Market for regular hours during the months of January and February, gathering and building the piece.  Jackie Hayes propsed this collaboration to the Market as it allows an opportunity for a rich exchange of experience and it falls within her current interest in exploring new intersections of art, audience and exchange.  Located in the context of a marketplace, not only does this work make herself accessible to the daily paths of those who work and visit the site, but it asks us to consider our behaviors of consumption and exchange in our everyday interactions.
