Midtown Global Market, in partnership with Do It Green! Minnesota and Edible Twin Cities magazine, invites everyone to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 18, 2009. Visitors are invited to meet local farmers and producers. There will be cooking demonstrations, sampling, children's activities, and live music from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year's theme is to "Think Globally, Act Locally," and teach people how to enact sustainable efforts in their lives. Representatives from Do It Green! Minnesota will be on site with eco action tables offering easy ways to green-up your lifestyle. The first 100 people to take an "Earth Pledge" with Do It Green! Minnesota can make and take home a bottle of all-purpose, non-toxic cleaner.
Guitarist / bouzoukist / composer Greg Herriges plays an eclectic mix of original and traditional "whirled music," with a unique approach honed by his study of Asian and other international styles. Gumption Trap is a Twin Cities folk/rock outfit that has developed a musical style best described as "atomic folk" that combines their rock and folk originals, with a plethora of covers, and some revved up traditional tunes as well.

The inaugural brunch will be Sunday, April 19, 2009. Shelagh Mullen of SheCooks will prepare whole wheat and oat pancakes, bacon, orange juice, fresh fruit and real maple syrup for $6.95.
Mari and Amy have both played violin for over 20 years. They met as members of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, a premier community orchestra in the Twin Cities. They have also played in chamber groups and pit orchestras. Amy plays in pop bands and Mari plays Swedish fiddle. Recently, Mari performed in Washington DC with Andrea Hoag. The Midtown Global Market announces its new Singer/Songwriter Showcase on the third Sunday of each month from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. featuring top performers from the Minnesota Association of Songwriters (MAS). MAS is open to songwriters of all genres, and has been a strong supporter of songwriting since 1982.
